Indeed this is important to do however it's also important to check your equipment I.e network to ensure that it's strong and reliable, your computer is in good condition and you are centred. As these three aspects can also take up precious time.

In my experience it is not difficult to manage coaching session. Workout a structure that you follow in each session. This sets boundaries. Generally you will explore learning with you client around the experiments (actions) they took in the week or two before this session. I always ask my client what they would like to use the session for because sometimes things happen (get the promotion they wanted, get demoted or any many things) that stands in the way of them working on their goals. If you set a time for the session and you see that there is 10mins left you can say something like: we have 10 minutes left for this session, what would give you the most value if we focused on it now?

Automation of my calender has helped me a great deal and give autonomy to the client to choose a date and time best suited to themselves. I am also able to block out time for other activities to ensure I'm in the best for for each session.

My calender in it's way sets the boundaries as only times where I'm available are listed. It's important however to always double key as at times technology can mess up and if you are using two calenders ensure they speak to each other especially if you manually input in one.

I find it helpful to spend 15 to 20 minutes after the session to reflect on what went well what could have gone better? Was there a missed opportunity for growth? How present was I? Why did I feel as I did? Taking some of this to supervisory session also helps me to ensure I'm still aligned to the competencies and ultimately protecting the client.
