Know your Client! There is a reason why your client hired you in the first place - what is the clients expectation of you and your work? What are their "wants" and "dont's"? Find overlaps in the first and avoid the latter. Know Yourself! How much are you willing to compromise? Can you let go of your own ideas? Make sure to be aware of your personal comfort-zone, your out-of-comfort-zone and your no-go-zone to avoid conflict - inner and outer! Exceptions! Make Exceptions - or don't! Be honest! Sometimes things just don't match - be it in a clash of personalities, stylistic approach or other ideas. In rare cases it can even be better to not take the job - you will know, what to avoid, if you've experienced it.
