The assumption made here is that a mutual understanding has been reached. In real life this may not happen. If so, and if you want to avoid direct confrontation you will have to use the diplomacy of the crab : the crab walks sideways. Act the same : flattering is very efficient ; using the influence of an Influential or well listened partner works well.
