How have you addressed communication issues within your team?
-
Identify Specific Issues: Observe and note instances of unclear instructions or miscommunication, such as mismatched deadlines or emotional versus data-driven discussions. Schedule a Meeting: Request a private conversation to discuss your observations, ensuring the timing is appropriate for both parties. Use "I" Statements: Frame your feedback using "I" statements to express how their communication affects your work, e.g., "I feel confused when deadlines aren't clearly stated". Suggest Alternatives: Propose ways to improve communication, like regular check-ins or clearer project outlines. Follow Up: After implementing changes, revisit the discussion to assess improvements and maintain open lines of communication
-
Address the complaints by having a private, constructive conversation with the manager, focusing on specific feedback. Provide coaching or training on effective communication styles that foster collaboration. Encourage an open dialogue within the team to rebuild trust. Monitor progress and follow up to ensure improvement and resolution.

Communication style is adopted through various means I.e. past experience, bad manager, personal issue, education background etc. I feel this is something which cannot be changed overnight with training. - To address this his Sr. must talk to that individual in person and give him feedback by showing how communication is linked with team morale. - Understand the reason for his behaviour and provide support. Some take out their personal frustration with family at work. Hence, separating personal/professional is important - Some managers feel that their background gives them the liberty to use same style of communication with everyone. Hence, respect in communication is key. - Lastly, regular follow up helps build confidence to do better.
