How would you handle a situation where a social media influencer refuses to promote your music?

The likelihood of one or more social media influencers turning down the opportunity to promote your music is extremely high—and that’s completely normal. It happens all the time. As a creative, it’s important to recognise that your style won’t always resonate with everyone, and that’s perfectly fine. Not everyone will vibe with your sound or artistic direction, and that doesn’t diminish your value or potential. Rather than dwelling on the rejection or even wasting time trying to assess its impact, understand that it’s just one influencer’s perspective. There are so many others out there whose creative vision and audience will align with yours. The key is to keep pushing forward and not let a single “no” derail your momentum.

Thank them for their feedback, ask them if they would like to receive future releases or not and and move on! It's all good. You should never be chasing endorsements from partners that don't genuinely believe in your product (in this case your song) you don't have to be all things to all people. Every influencer is not going to like your music, focus your efforts on super-servicing your supporters rather than trying to change others minds.

A good start isn't to blatantly ask for an insanely popular influencer to promote your music. A lot of the influencers care about how much money you're offering. So, if you have nothing to give, you're not going to get promoted. Simple. I will say, however, that the chances of you getting promoting by smaller influencers and gradually building upwards with their connections can be a useful means to gain traction. You have a million resources at the tips of your fingers, and you've just got to find the right ones and the right people at the right time. A game is all it is.

There are many YouTube channels with a decent amount of following that if you're good at making music will gladly take in your instrumentals or whatever it may be, and post them. This can be a beautiful way to reach a global audience, since these channels diversify all across the world. Some channels may be in Europe, some Russia, and some Japan — It's all up to which you choose and what genre the channel may be looking for. This new surge of diversified listeners can now make your target audience while promoting much much easier. You know where your fanbases are, and now you can target there. If you want to build it more, rinse and repeat with different countries.

Using YouTube Shorts can be a good means to promotion. If you can make appealing content, or if you're naturally funny and can be informative — YouTube Shorts or TikTok has plenty of room for posting that type of content. There are many examples from Dubstep artists that are arising heavily because they're remixing the newest trending song, and this has led to a literal flock of hundreds of thousands of new listeners because (1) it's funny, and (2) they're also being informative and kind of showing you how they made the song at the same time. Which could be good for new producers who want to start making music. This whole bringing in new listeners, being informative as to teach the newer producers is a good way to market yourself.
