Self centered transactional motives get to others nerves as opposed to willingness to invest time and effort beyond surface-level participation. Authentic contributions are more likely to result in meaningful, sustainable outcomes. Collaboration with other engineers help build applications we really need. In situations where people are pretending to contribute, one could foster a culture of open communication. This can help build a more authentic and productive working environment.
