How does tire and road interaction impact the lifespan of your vehicle?

By maintaining good road traction, the vehicle will stay on the road better then having bad tires. Bad tires means bad traction on the road which could lead to an accident. RIGHT?

It is the tires main focus to be that protector of the road for the vehicle. The roads themselves are dangerous at times when it starts to break up over time. But having the best tire that they can make for the road will help accommodate most of the destruction that happens to the vehicle. Meaning breaks shocks everything else that makes the car rattle when you’re on the road.

Road stresses - Something rarely talked about. Higher quality tires are able to withstand road variations significantly better than their lower quality counterparts. If you live in an area where the roads are less than desirable, road stress will start to deteriorate the tire from within. When noticeable, this affects tire balance and drive quality. The tire is the first line of defense on the road, often absorbing the impact from road stress. Lesser quality tires or tires fatigued from road stress, will not absorb and will instead transfer the road stress to the vehicle suspension. 100% agree. I never thought about winter tires until the year we had a significant snowfall in early Nov. My (relatively) new all seasons were terrible. Winter tires are like glue.

Picking a good service facility will go a very long way in tire and road maintenance. We will use our shop and our standard approach to "oil changes". With every oil change, we perform the following tasks: - Rotate tires - Clean mounting surfaces - Check tire pressure While we do this, we check for abnormalities in tire wear, which is typically a result of a worn or wearing suspension. This is the most basic step that you can have done for you, by just picking a trustworthy service facility. You can and should check these items yourself, at least once every 30 to 60 days (tire pressure/ condition, quick & easy). If your regular service facility is good, they would likely be happy to check your tire pressure with a quick stop in.

Regardless of what kind of tire or the weather, nothing affects a tire more than incorrect air pressure. Easy pick? Visually walk around your vehicle prior to driving, check for a low looking or sagging tire. Road warrior? Have a pressure gauge and air compressor in your car. Costco sells a great emergency kit for less than $50. Air compressor included. How often to check? I would say once a month “to be safe”. Realistically, I check my tires once a week and my air pressure at each season change. Change my tire for me? AAA membership perk.
