En este caso la rendición de cuentas le da un tremendo plus a este proceso de seguimiento, porque, te obliga a ser disciplinado en orden de poder responder efectivamente a tus superiores en el momento de mostrar tus avances de los objetivos propuestos, esto se llama compromiso social. Además, al compartir con un público externo tus objetivos queda en tela de juicio tu capacidad de asumir la responsabilidad de tus acciones y decisiones.

For the appetizer (the first goal), the chef decides on a specific recipe (Specific) and aims for a particular standard of taste and presentation (Measurable). This dish is within the team's skills and resources (Achievable), and it's designed to start the meal off right (Relevant) and to be served promptly as guests arrive (Time-Bound). Then, for the main course (the second goal), the chef selects another set of criteria, ensuring compatibility with the last course but yet ensuring it stands out independently. This continues until the last course (the final goal).

SMART stays on point when accountability is added. having accountability related conversations with the team helps one leverage SMART. It allows a leader to provide appropriate rewards and awards. It helps the team show up in a real way as they stay on point with regards to achieving what they set out to do

In my experience coaching teams the word accountability can spark negative emotions such as anxiety or frustration. Instead, create a culture of positive accountability within the entire team where everyone supports each other when things are off-track rather than approach with judgement. Accountability can be a great igniter of performance or create division depending on the tone that is set within the group. Hold open discussions around accountability and build a Team Contract on how everyone can act, discuss, and show up during meetings where we review our performance. Set a mindset of positive accountability focused on support, curiosity, and challenge so that it can heighten the probability of success.

Contrary to popular belief today, I've found that most employees want to do a good job and contribute to something bigger than themselves. When leaders do an effective job of collaboratively creating SMART goals (that align with the vison/mission/strategy of the organization) and then cascade those goals to their team in a way that clearly defines accountability, what right looks like, and why it is important, they gain a massive amount of buy-in, engagement, and momentum in their team, they enjoy the positive impact in the business results, and they build stronger relationships in the process.

It's amazing at how well implementing accountability for smart goals will improve a culture and work environment. As long as it's done in a way where the team buying is there and with the expectation it's designed to help everyone improve.
