One thing I have found helpful in bringing about change is getting buy in at onset into the reason and purpose of change from as many stakeholders as possible . Clear and open communication key. Next is communication, (yes I am repeating) what the likely outcome and then coming up with a plan and the roles expected of anyone. There will always be change champions who see the value of change. They can do a lot of leg work to communicate the messages to the detractors. Keep the detractors close to you. You need them. Then it’s acknowledging the progress and recognising how far one has come with the key stakeholders and the people most affected by change Most importantly if there are setbacks be upfront and avoid grapevine talk!
Who is already engaged? Who thrives in change? Enlist support of these people, being careful not to widen the chasm of those who are and are not advocates of change! It may still mean bumps in the road but you'll see the benefit after the change. As much that can be done as possible to prepare people the better.
