How do you troubleshoot syntax and logical errors in Process Automation programming?

I always use development plugins for a certain language within my programming IDE, for example. Using Puppet Development Kit gives me allot of signs and tells be beforehand that something is not going to work, says me time and makes my code allot more cleaner with fewer mistakes. It will not prevent everything, but it will help you make fewer mistakes, make your code cleaner and consistent.

I usually do programming with code check if possible and run it through pipeline with code check and linters. I prefer to do things in smaller steps and test what is testable. I am seldom getting syntax errors as they are the easiest to avoid so I do not focus on them. Logical errors are worse because they are only discovered by others

Commenting your code is extremely important and I will die on this hill. No your code is not "self documenting". The code you wrote tells us what your code is doing. Your comments tell us what it is supposed to be doing. It can be nearly impossible to troubleshoot without understanding what the intention was of what you wrote.

More important than any technical aspect is communicating with your end users, whether they be actual public users or internal technical resources using your tools.
