Setting goals is key. The plan, do, check, act model is great for working through and tracking the success of any safety program. The first step of planning is crucial. For a program to be successful it has always been my experience that collaboration needs to come from ALL areas of the business, not just from management. Workers are the ones that safety programs are designed for. Having a successful outcome benefits not only the company ( less cost due to LTI’s) , but has a positive outcome for workers. Having them contribute at the planning stage sets it up for success as everyone has a vested interest in seeing their ideas work.
