I totally agree with this suggestion. Another aspect to consider when choosing the platform is to know where your audience is. For instance: if you offer business consulting services, LinkedIn makes more sense than Pinterest.

First consider who your audience is for your message. We want to talk to people on the platforms they are already using. Then, assess what platform your audience is likely using to gain the content that your message focuses on. Many people use social platforms for different things - for example, if your message is more professional and educational in nature, LinkedIn might be your best platform. Identifying where your audience already is and where your message will most likely be appreciated are key. Not sure? Try posting the same thing on multiple platforms and identify where you get the highest impressions (views) and engagement (likes, comments, reposts).

What I have experienced is that the more you showcase your true self, the more you share your stories, give real life examples and help people to understand their root causes, their challenges and it becomes easier to connect with your Target audience. Also posting videos, doing a podcast, creating a community is a very powerful way to reach the right audience.

I agree, and believe the most important part is to choose a platform where you can engage with your target audience as each platform requires different levels of engagement. As platforms evolve, it’s important to keep an eye on trends and algorithm changes to stay relevant.

When I first started sharing advice on social media, I fell into the trap of posting random motivational quotes and surface-level tips. Sure, they were positive messages, but they didn't really provide any value to my audience. Now I put more strategic thought into creating posts and videos that demonstrate my credentials as an educator. I also create educational content like how-to guides and slide decks diving deep into strategies. Instead of just saying "leverage social media," I explain exactly how to craft an engaging social media strategy step-by-step. This advanced knowledge and insight is what establishes thought leadership.

Highlighting your expertise on social media is essential for building a strong professional presence. To effectively communicate your skills and knowledge, I believe in creating and curating valuable content. Sharing your insights through thoughtful posts, articles, and engaging with your network showcases your expertise. Being consistent in your messaging and building a personal brand also helps in establishing yourself as a credible authority in your field. Don't forget to leverage multimedia content, such as videos, infographics, and webinars, to reach a broader audience. It's all about adding value to your network while staying true to your unique expertise.

I am of the view that knowledge being delivered 'knowledgably' may not get that many eyeballs. I mean if it sounds like a lesson it is not very interesting. To make it interesting engage in story telling. Remember Aesop's fables ? That can serve as an inspiration and an example.

I have been told by my mentor that focus on only one thing how does my content add value to my reader/ consumer? If your content can make the small change or at-least bring the mindset shift then it becomes a game changer and you start commanding respect. This creates true loyal fans and they will willing to do word of mouth publicity for you.

One of the best ways to create valuable content is to think of who you were a couple of years ago and start writing for that person. Share: - Lessons learned - Mistakes made - People you've met and what you learned from them - Skills you've developed - Problems you solved - Books, podcasts, YouTube videos you've read, listened and watched and how did they help you Be open and share your journey. Next is engaging with other experts, creators, etc. in a meaningful way. Leave thoughtful comments on their social media channels and keep the conversations going.

I ask for feedback and ideas from my fellow teachers nationwide, learning new instructional approaches. Parents appreciate the transparency social media facilitates. I post curriculum overviews, reading lists, and study tips. Being accessible and informative online fosters trust. I particularly enjoy sharing my experiences as a beginning teacher through live videos and Stories. I receive such thoughtful encouragement and advice from veteran educators that inspires me to pay it forward one day. The wisdom and solidarity has kept me motivated through the toughest days.

Networking and speaking are great ways for you to engage with your audience. Online interactions are of course important but nothing beats in-person connections with your target audience in my opinion. It's such a great way for you to showcase your personal brand, share your story, provide support and guidance, and give a sense of what it's like to work with you.

It's not just about posting content, it's about liking and thoughtfully commenting on other great creators' content, and responding to the posts on your content. Think of it like a real-life conversation where you "ping pong" back and forth with one another.

One of the biggest benefits of engaging with an audience is the point that they feel that they have been understood and their viewpoints are taken into consideration. The benefits really help in building long-term trust worthy relationships with the audience and create true loyal fans.

I think it's important to build a profile that showcases your experience and achievements, but I think promoting them depends on the individual and the reason behind sharing it. It's great to be proud of an accomplishment and maybe sharing it can vary depending on the audience (family, friends, colleagues, strangers) and platform (Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin) to share it on.

On LinkedIn, there are many ways to showcase your achievements and expertise on your profile. I recommend quarterly reflecting on your accomplishments and updating the representative sections on LinkedIn which can include Experience, Honors & Awards, Licenses & Certifications, Courses, Organizations (professional organizations you are a member of), as well as volunteer experience. Your LinkedIn profile is a great place to showcase a well-rounded viewpoint of who you are as a professional.

Add every award you were nominated for, not just ones that you won! Nomination means that you were among an elite group to be considered. It isn’t always about winning.

The more you try to be someone else the harder it will be to keep up. So the key is to be really you because this is one thing that is not taken and will never be taken. The other thing is to be human and be willing to share your vulnerable side. The more you share your vulnerable side the more respected you become and become even more trust worthy.

Agre with being human and authentic. You have to be yourself. It is relevant in life and in social media. To me if there is a toss up between beign authentic or playing the SEO game, I would opt for authenticity every time.

A plank of wood. That’s how I felt when I made my first video for LinkedIn. I was standing like people don’t stand. Talking like people don’t talk. I was so “wooden”. And I recorded so many takes looking for the perfect one. I got completely confused which was which & just choose a final one in a blind panic. What changed for me & my videos was staring to film them in the garden. It’s more relaxing. You can’t beat nature as a backdrop. It’s calming & fresh. It makes for a better viewer experience. They looked better, sounded better & got more views. Well anymore than 0 is an improvement. I don’t get big views, likes or engagements but I connect with the right people. I use the feed as playground & share what feels right.

Three tips for writing authenticity: 1. Imagine you are talking to just one person, and write that way. I find this technique creates more authentic posts than a "hey everybody!" approach. Having a hard time? Print out a picture of this person, and audio record the "conversation" (post) you want to have. Write your post using what you recorded & edit as needed. 2. Using simple language. The average reading level in the US is 8th grade. As you read your post draft, ask yourself, how could I adjust this language so that a 13 or 14-year-old could understand what I'm talking about? 3. Review your past posts, especially ones that have performed well. How can you continue to write using that same voice and tone?

Sharing your authentic self can be challenging, particularly on social media. People are often worried about the potential judgement and discrimination that they can face while sharing important parts of themselves with those around them. And yet, at the same time, it can also bring people together and create a wonderful community. All because one person chose to speak up about a matter they feel strongly about.
