Technology or use of technology in facility or workplace is evolving, buildings are getting smarter and intelligent and technology know how is one of the key skill sets for facility mangers also derive best of data to implement and make the process very efficient with various technologies in place with different stake holders the key role for facility head is to ensure that the facility team is well versed with the operational and functional usage of this technology and post identifying the set of audience required to use the technology like housekeeping team employees or the security team etc should arrange for training get this team involved since development stage and post training provide all back end support to all the stake holders,

Sharing the technical information need to necessary stakeholders is amost an art form, requiring tact, patience, understanding and a bit of psychology. Primarily the goal is to promote understanding of what the information is and how it will benefit the particular audience being addressed. Most times, once people comprehend how it will benefit them, they are more receptive to understanding the process. The cost/profit ratio, safety, applicability and ease of use are factors that can be expanded upon to assist in helping them grasp key concepts that are vital to successful implementation. This aids in a smooth process of learning and assimilation.

Firstly, the Facility Manager must know how to communicate effectively to different categories of stakeholders on different issues even beyond technology. He must customize his communication plans to his various audiences. Poor communication will defeat the best of intentions. Secondly, when it comes to recommending FM technology to senior management, team members or client, the Facility Manager must first emphasize benefits of the technology and not it's features. They must also know it will be easy to use (many people are averse to new technology in the workplace). Subsequently there should be demos and demos until all parties are familiar with it. Only after all these are done should purchase of the FM technology be done

IT can be of great value in FM if used for applied properly. It facilitates performance effectiveness and increase efficiency. However in a developing countries like Ethiopia where our business resides, there is lack of computer skills such as systems analysis, programming, maintenance and consulting, and at all operational levels from basic use to management. Our normal daily operations are frequently affected by power interruptions and internet network disconnections. Lack of technical knowledge and technological tools makes it difficult for facilities managers to properly address maintenance issues and respond to emergencies.
