A multiple-choice quiz is NOT a discussion and would not be a good assessment choice for that learning objective. Or module assignments that accumulate to a final or group project.

In my opinion, context should be the first point of consideration before moving forward to ensure the assessment is designed on the proper platform or modality. Making the correct determination of the context will minimize the need to make any significant adjustments after the assessment has been created. For assessments administered with a proctoring solution, it is also important to consider the exam profile required. This will allow the design of the completed exam to assess understanding and mastery through the proper context with proper exceptions and limitations.

Good assessment practice could be many things. To me, good assessment practice is using a rubric to share expectations for success among other benefits. Good assessment practice is also using a mix of formative and summative assessment. Good assessment practice is giving feedback that is goal-referenced, tangible, actionable, and timely. Good assessment practice is collecting student feedback and using it to improve your design and delivery for the next cohort. And finally, good assessment practice isn't focused on anti-cheating, but rather on mastery of stated learning objectives.

This is such an important factor! The purpose of an assessment is threefold. The results should be used to determine... 1.) If the content met the business need 2.) If the participant learned 3.) and, what decisions or improvements need to be made to continue to ensure 1 & 2. I've worked for companies that do nothing with the assessment results, and assessing without action is a waste of everyone's time.

Learning environment is something you can't ignore. Where, when, and how will your learners access and complete the assessments is crucial to designing impactful assessments.
