First change is very difficult , because everyone is usually comfortable with status quo. Besides change bring fear and potentially chaos. So the first step is to define what the organization needs to change and WHY. A compelling case needs to be made by management that change is required because the current path is untenable. Once the case for change is made management needs to get buy-in from everyone involved. Otherwise it wont work. Involving key personnel at the outset is key if execution is going to work.

2 Choose your team and partners wisely

Senior management needs to lead, but line management must be involved. Line management has to live the changes! So better have them on board right at the outset. I have found outsiders and special project leaders are usually not good at getting buy in from the organization at large. Consequently getting employees and line management involved who are going to be impacted and most likely going to enact the changes should be part of the change process.

3 Provide adequate training and support

Once you have selected your team and partners, you need to ensure that they have the necessary knowledge, skills, and resources to conduct the evaluation effectively and efficiently. To do this, you can share your evaluation plan, expectations, and guidelines with them and solicit their input and feedback. Additionally, provide them with relevant documents, data, and information related to your change project and evaluation. Introduce them to the key stakeholders, beneficiaries, and users of your change project and evaluation. Furthermore, organize regular meetings, workshops, or webinars to discuss the progress, challenges, and solutions of the evaluation. Furthermore offer technical assistance, coaching, or mentoring on evaluation methods, tools, and best practices. Lastly recognize their contributions, achievements, and learnings from the evaluation.

One of the keys to success in effective and sustainable change is garnering the help of Change Champion from within the client's organization. The support of management and leadership in the selection and deployment of these individuals is critical. These are not those individuals that just happen to be available. These are the natural leaders (nothing about title here) that individuals in the department gravitate to for advice, direction, etc. Often these individuals are "thrown into the deep end" with absolutely no idea of what a Change Champion is or what they are supposed to do. I start by providing a Change Champion Workshop focused on how people go through change, what resistance looks like and how it needs to be approached.

A successful change management evaluation requires a high level of collaboration and communication among your team and partners, as well as with other stakeholders, beneficiaries, and users of your change project and evaluation. To foster this collaboration and communication, it's important to establish a clear and transparent governance structure, create a shared vision and mission for your evaluation, develop a communication plan with appropriate tools and platforms, encourage mutual trust, respect, and learning among stakeholders, and celebrate successes, challenges, and learnings. Doing so will help you select and train your change management evaluation team and partners effectively and efficiently. Ultimately, this will lead to a robust and reliable evaluation that will inform and improve your change management practice.

Organizations who have in place good core values and a Purpose will have less difficulty in getting involvement. Team processes that are well managed will lead to better outcomes. Constant communication ( daily, weekly) about the change process that is transparent and open will aid in reducing fear and help in execution.
