How do you scaffold and support learners' self-directed learning in PBL?
Problem-based learning (PBL) is a pedagogical approach that engages learners in solving authentic and complex problems, often in collaborative groups. PBL fosters self-directed learning (SDL), which is the ability and willingness of learners to take charge of their own learning goals, strategies, and evaluation. However, SDL does not mean that learners are left alone to figure out everything by themselves. As an instructor, you have a crucial role in scaffolding and supporting learners' SDL in PBL. Here are some tips on how to do that effectively.
