How do you reward yourself for successful cold calls?

To me a great goal is to get them to hear your pitch. Even if they say no, it's a success that they at least heard you out. It helps build up confidence.

For me, every call comes as a great relief because I have done what I was supposed to do, be it a "yes" or a "no". Because it is the only way to know what's hidden out there and to obtain results. I'm not really at peace if I don't make that call.

Shorter call blocks make your day less daunting. Long call blocks seem intimidating. Set up call blocks of 25 minutes max (pomodoro technique) with a specific number of dials.

I would play two games with myself when I was in the field. First, I would set a number of cold calls, say 30, and tell myself I could go home once those are done. Some days it was 3pm, some days 7pm. Either way, it pushed me to knock every single one of them out. However, the goal of cold calls is appointments right? I'd similarly set a goal for appointments set, say 5, and would go home only when that's done. Some days I was back by noon and others very late in the day. Rewarding yourself for cold calls seems like this could run the gamut. I set up cold calling in blocks of 10, 20, etc., and then will take a break (after calls have been made) get coffee, pet the dog, go for a short walk, etc. I've found that to keep the funnel full, I need to average 50 cold calls a day.

Going out of your comfort zone is hard, but making a new connection or friend is easy, and that is exactly what you are doing when you pick up the phone to connect.

When I do cold calling, I prefer the word social calling, I try to make a list of 10 prospects with numbers, you need to get in to the flow. A lot of people don't have time, imagine that you disrupt their busy day. Always apologize and ask for a better timing, if they mention a better timing, stick to your promise, it will create a lot of trust. Maybe they forgot already they told you this, they will be amazed. Every touchpoint is a possibility to amaze your potential customer. Use it. I like to work with an old school board, write the 10 down, visualize it, see it as top sports, because it is.

Absolutely! The best way to reward yourself is with dark chocolate or a brisk walk outdoors. Mentally unwind and reflect. Then reset and hit the phones again to connect and crush your goals!

The simplest way to improve is to keep track of your numbers. Count conversations, rejections and meetings. You'll soon have a clear idea of how many rejections you need to get a meeting and it will give you predictable data. It's also feel satisfying to scratch down every one rejection.

I like the old-school method: Pen and paper --> how many times did I ask for a meeting? How many VMs did I leave? How many conversations did I have? It's an awesome visual reminder of your progress

Every 25 minutes - take a break. Use The Pomodoro Technique. Perhaps it is not possible if the environment is just under the gun. However, for your own sake - do take a break. recap, review, organize, update the CRM... take a breather, and move on.

I learned to value and celebrate the prospects who disqualify themselves. It's a tremendous waste of time for someone to say yes to you when they simply are not a fit for your product. If you can disqualify that prospect as early as possible, you ensure your later effort is more productive and rewarding. Being told "no" is not a lost sale because that prospect would not be buying anyway. It is saved time, allowing you to focus on prospects who will convert.

Share your wins! Letting others on your team/in your organization know when you've had a successful call will not only make you feel great, but it can be contagious to help others push through and find that next win of their own.

You face a choice: instant gratification or long-term prosperity. Striking a balance is tricky. I've discovered that achieving success shouldn't be the finish line. When you nail something and it pays off, don't hit the brakes! Celebrating too soon can hinder your ability to repeat that success. Score a major deal? Fantastic! Keep the momentum going and close another one. Harvest the benefits through your earnings and the well-being of your family, not through a fleeting dopamine rush. Learn from my experience, the guy who retired prematurely.

Big fan of sharing your wins to keep that positivity going. When you have that momentum and found success on a call, it's also the best time to double down on the amount of outreach you are doing. It's that HEAT CHECK feeling of being in the zone and currently being unstoppable. There are certain times when you just have the Golden Touch, don't let the moment pass you by, lean into it and stack the wins. The time to rest or call it quits is NOT when you are hot.

Confidence in your self and your message is the key to success. It takes time and reps to get the swing of things and gain that confidence. Getting started is the scariest part!

I'm sorry, I don't agree with this much. When your on the top of the sales board and everyone is surprised that you're there, that's a great feeling to me. Looking for these small little praises is only setting you up for darker times when it gets tough, and it always does. It's OK if you have a close friend on the team to share with a little, but definitely don't run to management. They will expect even more and that's more pressure on you. It's fine to share you made a deal, that helps drive your team, but keep the small steps to yourself and use that success personally to keep you positive. ??

We throw it on the leader board, but also we also build the culture that a great way to celebrate a win, is to go get another win!

A positive mindset is always the best approach when dealing with adversity. One helpful tip: Create a "cookie jar" of your best-recorded calls, client testimonials, and other positive outputs from your work to refer back to when you get discouraged. You've done great work before and you can do it again. You just have to remind yourself of it.

To be honest I don't like Gong and other tools, I prefer real feedback from colleagues. Doing customer calls and discuss them after, nothing is better than honest feedback. Feedback is a present, it's up to you what you do with it.

If you've done your homework on the people you're calling, the only real mistakes lie in your execution. Ex: You overextended on establishing rapport during your intro, so they became inpatient before learning why you called. (Their impatience isn't 'personal'; interrupting someone needs to be justified.) Add to the drawing board: "Be ready to get to the point." Keep dialing, jot down new mistakes, and over time you'll notice the growth in your ability to cold call!

Use your recordings and call dispositions to see where you can improve the most. If your calls are ending the most in the first 15-30 seconds then you need to work on your opener. Even the best cold callers can improve their craft.

In my experience learning from past mistakes is one of the most important parts of cold calling. Listening to imperfect calls, or missed opportunities to develop a solid strategy has helped me overcome objections and feel more confident on the phone. Sharing these calls with your teammates and getting their feedback has also given me a refresher and kept me honest about my skills development and what I should work on to become better.

Wish we could change the phrase "cold calls". It's really outreach, you have a message and you want people to hear it. You have a solution and you want to share it. You want to be known by many and to do that you need to introduce yourself. Sales is a numbers game, I hate that word too "game" but, there's a process and it has to start somewhere. Next time you're in public, try to start up a conversation with strangers, for any reason. Get use to being you and sharing that personally. I hope it helps, I do it all the time. And more people know me than I know people.

It is NOT personal. As many people can share, cold-calling is a very brute business. (if it is an old-fashined call) It is not what it used to be, as people work remotely and are not in the office, and most companies do not use a switchboard to connect calls. Most recipients hung up. Most recipients never answer emails. Most recipients are not interested. Most recipients will never follow-up. But despite all, it is NEVER personal. So shake it off and persevere.

Cold calling is tough, you’re going to have great sessions as well as awful sessions. My tip is to record yourself after that great session and tell yourself how good you, what went well and what you can replicate. This way you can fall back on those great emotions you felt for when you’re having a below average day.

Make another call. Getting a meeting is great, but the keyword is N-E-X-T. You'll always want to be careful about pushing too hard for meetings. It's best to live to call again another day. You never want to be asked to take a prospect off your list.

At my first job as a telemarketing executive, I learned rejection through cold calls. I learned on a daily basis that 30 people may reject you, but ONE client will be the game changer. This made me a strong and go-getter. So don’t be afraid of rejection it only takes you one step closer to that right lead, right customer that will know the value you’re offering. It’s a mindset. So finally, I would reward myself with chocolates. Certainly worth it.
