How do you provide constructive feedback to candidates after an interview?

I believe offering feedback to candidates is a powerful way to enhance an employer's brand and attract top talent. In today's competitive job market, a company's willingness to provide feedback sets it apart and demonstrates a genuine commitment to candidate development. However, ensuring that the feedback process remains concise and focused is important. Only trained recruiters should manage this process so they could pinpoint areas where candidates may have fallen short or identify areas for improvement based on the specific job requirements ensuring consistent and constructive conversations. In my experience feedback after an interview is like a guiding light on candidates journey. It’s that helpful nudge that shows where they can shine and where they can polish up a bit more. If I have received it, I try to give feedback within 48 hours after the interview. I also make sure to set up a time to review the feedback with the candidate and allow them to ask any questions they may have.

I always start with the positives, thank them for taking the time to go through the process, and ask them about their experience. I will then transition to constructive feedback and allow them to ask questions and I will also leave the lines of communication open.
