From my perspective, manual installations should be avoided as much as possible. Besides the arguments given, manual installations are often lacking documentation and insights and these are hard to be explained to other team members. In history, that's the reason why mankind invented writing. And so, it is with automation - to be able to pass on knowledge over several generations of engineers and to reduce the business continuity risk in case of unforeseen events like loss of key personell.
