The first thing we as QA or any other stakeholder for that matter, should understand is the pain we’re trying to solve. How does the feature/project address solving the pain. We as QA should have a broader picture which help us understand if the project/feature will actually solve that pain.

SQA engineers document test cases, test plans, and test results. Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating risks associated with software development is another key responsibility.

First you should use an appropriate testing methodologies, and by that you can decide what are the needed tools for your project. It also a matter of costs - some of the tools can be expensive and we would like to find a good alternative.

In today's world where we are having rapid deployments and daily releases it is necessary to identify the right tool to help the rapid paced testing. Tooling depends on lot of factors like cost, release duration, development tech stack, head count et al which brings the question of open source vs licensed tool, and unarguably the most debated topic. With the rapid advancements in tools that now includes AI, self healing code, low code no code tools, it has now become harder than ever to settle for a tool. But at the end of the day it all boils down to cost which will always be the prime factor.

Choosing the right tools can be very beneficial. But sometimes if not most, we are already working inside a set of predetermined frameworks which we’re already put in place. The most important thing to remember is that good quality has nothing to do with the tools we select. It can help us, but it’s the main issue.

Firstly, understanding the project's specific needs is essential. This includes the type of software being developed, its complexity, and the industry standards or regulations it must adhere to. Open-source solutions can be cost-effective alternatives, but they may require additional support. Collaboration and integration capabilities should not be overlooked. Tools should facilitate communication and collaboration among team members and be compatible with other tools used in the development and testing ecosystem. Automation is increasingly important for efficiency and consistency. Choose tools that allow for test automation, continuous integration, and deployment (CI/CD) integration to streamline the development pipeline.

When working on any new project, QA timelines are always in crunch. Please know the project timelines, raise the risk earlier and plan your deliveries, adjust the scope accordingly and if still more timelines are required,inform at the earliest. Before starting to test, have a clear test plan, know the dependencies, prepare the test scenarios and test data , raise the critical bugs ASAP to ensure your delivery is smooth even in tight deadlines

Again, tools can be very beneficial but we should always try and not become a slave for the tool, if we spend more time on maintaining the tool then it saves us, we shouldn’t use it. Good communication is always the key to success.

When it comes to deadlines and using resources effectively, you should prioritize your tasks based on their importance and urgency. try to focus on high-priority tasks first to ensure critical testing is completed on time

When there's a requirement change while testing is Ongoing, you must set a meeting with your PM / R&D Leader and discuss the timelines once again. raise a flag in case you have any risk or concerns about the requirements change

Things will change, nothing is set in stone. Good communication with developers and stakeholders will keep you ahead of the curve and ready for anything.

Adapting to changes and feedback is a fundamental aspect of successful project management and quality assurance in software development. The opposite of forgetting is writing it down. Keep your documentation clean and simple or KISS (keep it simple stupid). No need to make things idiot proof.

The best way I follow is , never maintain your documents or data at too many places. Always upload your test artifacts directly into Jira or any test management tools, finish it immediately.Never maintain any of your testing documents locally.
