If you're at a point where decision making isn't data driven, keep standards conversation to the data team and senior leadership. For everyone else, allow them to play with data in a safe environment where they need to worry about errors and trust issues. It's about building interest and even passion for data, and these come often via trial and error and agency is shaping what data can do for you - rather than how to fit a process or standard you don't understand.

Making data more visible and accessible around the business is a game changer. I've seen editors help sales teams close more business by understanding patterns in conversations and where sales people could offer better product information. BI dashboards that are easy to manipulate allow teams that aren't data savvy to instantly see correlations between e.g. content difficulty changes on learner engagement; contract duration and client satisfaction; usability improvements and completion rates, etc etc. The best way to get started is to write down a list of 5-10 top questions you've never been able to answer - and try and figure out what would be possible, if you did. You can build your business case from there.
