The safety barrier monitoring and measuring step starts with base data; without data analysis, we will not be able to get the desired information on which we will define the KPIs. Defining KPIs based on data analysis will help ensure the reliability of actions to prevent hazards from reoccurring. Once we have defined KPI's, we should now develop a plan to review the effectiveness of the action plan, define review frequency based on the risk level, and amend KPI's if needed. KPIs should be SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound) and don't forget to document.
