How do you merge cloud and on-premise security?

Based on my experience working with clients; A good start is by conducting thorough assessment of existing on-premise and cloud environments. This includes Identifying assets, data, and systems in both environments that need protection. Next, develop a unified set of security policies and standards that apply to both on-premise and cloud environments. Some of the standards that can be applied are NIST SP 800-30, ISO 27001 ISO-27001 / ISO-27002, ISO-27017, ISO-27018 General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), System and Organisation Controls (SOC) Reporting, Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), CIS AWS Foundations v1.2 and more.

Map it out to threats as it may make it easier for you to understand the dangers in the cloud and on-premise 7. Evaluate and review on a regular basis.

The best way to asses your risk before moving to cloud is which data you want to keep on premise and which can be with cloud. Trust is most important factor to decide the region/zone/csp if you dont have forget the migration. Then coming to picture what all the tools you are using is having any similarities or completely new then find out commonalty, I am sure all the standard tools and process available in cloud today. They find out what would be my access pattern and find out ways to secure it, last but not the lease use audit to see what is going on with you data, posture, access pattern for at least 6 months time till you are confident to say you know how my data is being used and who is using what.

Comparison list is available already, but that may not be you are looking for when you decide the CSP. Talk to different CSP get the discount offered, then get into solution's mode. I think this is the right approach instead of taking too much effort., this job already doing by major cloud provider. Next part is see for Network cost based on your usage pattern that is differ with CSP, maturity of acceptance is also matter a lot, what is their general turn around time for new feature. Some CSP use a strategy to release faster but at the same rate rollback, see that to keep your long term strategy. Last but not the least see your use case to decide which CSP offer best.
