While it is difficult to benchmark products' LCAs of different players in absence of clear sector or product category standards, I think the most important benefit of a product LCA is the sheer understanding where positive impacts can be made and the ability to project future positive impacts thru modelling different scenarios. LCA also clarifies the most important areas where improvements can move the needle (hotspots) and thus well informs the product strategies and prioritization of efforts. Practically, it's best to choose a combination of potentially less impactful quick win with a more long term more significant impact as the latter requires often development, testing, investments and partnerships which take more time by definition.

One of the biggest challenges in a LCA analysis is obtaining the information, especially if the product or service to be analyzed is not digitized or does not have an ERP where the information can be found consolidated. The first step to understanding the complexity of the opportunity is to differentiate between "digitized" opportunities and those which still work with pencil and paper. For the first scenario, there are SaaS with developed APIs that migrate the information surprisingly accurately and help automate much of the LCA calculation. However, "non-digitized" opportunities tend to be more cumbersome, as obtaining traceability can be a challenge, not mentioning that the accuracy of the result depends on too many variables.
