In my experience, simplifying the interface of the product is the first. However, you should also gather evidence or data from the user to make sure your designing the product itself to the user specification. If it is decided to use multiple channels, they must have the same functions so that the user chooses the channel based on their access preferences and not on the functionality they can obtain for each channel.

As engineers, we would like to build systems rather than be the system. So automating the daily time hogs is key to efficiency. Most maintenance and support should aim to be preemptive and predictive to reduce the end-user impact. You would want to explain something with more simple words and avoid the use of technical terminology specifically to a non-tech savvy user and vice-versa to a technical oriented user role. In my experience, the more tech savvy a person is, the more they feel offended when using communication style and terminology that you would use with a non-tech savvy person. Balance and understanding the user experience is of key importance in regards to establishing and ehancing further relationships with clients/prospects.

We need to push UAT teams to test more or increase the number of testers and Sales to improve procurement. No way around in my opinion (please don’t ask CS)

Users feel valued when the community feedback is well balanced with product priorities.

Let your end users know the what, why and how up front. Always provide the highest level of service. Minimize downtime. They will always appreciate this.

Maintenance and support cannot get more user friendly when interface is simple and support staff knows what they are doing. It cannot be simplified only by two-three steps. Automation and user training is vital part of this as well, so users know what support is about to do. Many times in my experience support staff was not trained enough or i had to wait for ages for resolution of really simple issues.

#3 is the real answer. Everything should be done in the background. Educating users and personalizing the experience assumes that users should be involved when they really should not be.
