Note however, too early abstraction could contribute to an increased code complexity. Do you have to factor out this piece of code when it probably never be used again? Maybe copying the small piece of code twice reads better than a new function. Write both solutions and read them to compare the outcome, when in doubt.

Put some effort into naming things. A better name will replace a good comment. Take your time and think twice because the name will stick and it would take more to rename later. It would even take more time to remember what the thing is in six months. Or to explain to your coworker. Or to find a bug because you thought it meant something else.
