The second step is to communicate and consult with your stakeholders regularly and effectively. You need to establish clear and consistent channels and methods of communication, such as newsletters, meetings, surveys, workshops, or focus groups. I always ask what their objectives are and how much they want to know / when and ensure I do 100% to build trust and show I do as I say. Permission - important at this stage to ask for their permission to use as a point of escalation / point of contact to flag any key risks and issues to (they often may not read status reports)

The fourth step is to empower and delegate to your stakeholders as much as you can and trust. You can give your stakeholders more autonomy and responsibility in making decisions and solving problems, within certain boundaries and guidelines. You can also provide them with the necessary resources, support and recognition to enable them to perform their roles and tasks effectively. The goal is to enhance the motivation, confidence and satisfaction of your stakeholders, and to reduce the workload and stress on yourself.

Stakeholders approach can vary and they often don’t want to expose themselves to their peers, seniors especially if things go south. Important to also position yourself: (A) involve them and actively participate them especially for roadblocks; (B) be like the ‘Hand of the King/Queen’ (yes like in Game of Thrones) and allow to take their authority to do more so you can make decisions on both leading and execution

The fifth step is to monitor and measure stakeholder satisfaction throughout your project or program lifecycle.
