Gamification and simulation in STEM learning can offer many benefits for both students and teachers, such as increasing motivation and engagement, enhancing learning outcomes and retention, developing 21st century skills, supporting differentiation and personalization, and enriching the teaching practice. These two strategies are not mutually exclusive, but rather complementary; when combined and integrated in STEM learning, they create a more effective and enjoyable learning experience for students, helping them achieve their full potential in STEM fields. Gamification and simulation can appeal to students' intrinsic and extrinsic rewards, provide multiple opportunities for practice, feedback, and reinforcement, foster problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and digital literacy skills, allow students to learn at their own pace and level while adapting to their preferences, interests, and needs; as well as provide more resources and tools for instruction and assessment.
