In my experience by defining the system boundary, great engineers can also limit the dependencies between different components of the system. This helps to reduce the complexity of the system and makes it easier to test and maintain. By reducing complexity, engineers can also improve the reliability of the system. They can identify potential problems early on and take steps to prevent them from occurring.
