It’s finally give and take in good business relationships. While we must define and agree on Q specs, continuous dialogue proves crucial in maintaining those agreements. Sometimes in quest of cost reduction / pseudo “success” in negotiations, we fall prey to substandard quality and undisclosed intents of vendors. It is imperative to have “techno commercial” negotiators to strike the balance therefore. Agility of part of buyer and vendor in understanding needs of each other keeping consistent dialogue is important.

Dialogue is constitutionally TWO sided. Else it is called monologue! That’s the answer… Those two sided exchanges could be: - Expectation / compensation balance - Q standards understanding - info on capacities/competencies - incidental issue resolution - meeting demand fluctuations - change management - continuous improvement drives - training needs - treats n meets - celebrate successes If the communication and dialogue continues on these and many more parameters, the cohesive relationship is unavoidable thing!

If you are not a part of solution then you are part of problem! Not only we have to be receptive in hearing to hurdles from vendors but also offering solutions to them. Seldom it happens that issues are unique. If jointly accessible data log for historically encountered issues and respective solutions is available then quick searches can resolve half of the issues. Eldridge Cleaver used to say, “Those who are not for us are against us!”. Do we intend to be against our vendors? No, we have to “grow” together. So, be together, proposing together, ideating together, resolving together!
