As I see it, one should start by recognizing the user's emotions with phrases like "I understand how you feel" or "I can see why that would be frustrating." This shows empathy and helps build a connection. Then ask open-ended questions to learn more about their concerns. This encourages them to share more details and helps you understand their pain points better.

I treat it as valuable input for our roadmap. Negative reviews often highlight areas for improvement that we might not have considered.
