This helps you track progress and focus on areas for improvement. 2. Personalize Thank-You Emails: Make your thank-you emails personal. Mention something you learned or highlight helpful feedback to show appreciation and reinforce your learning. 3. Stay Organized: Use a digital app or notebook to track details from each mock interview, like questions covered and feedback received.

Check your calendar! Sure for the times and dates of your interview but also for the names of the individuals who may be apart of the interview process. Use that info to do research before the interview. This should help you to tailor your answers and experience to be relatable to your interviewer. It should also be helpful when writing a custom thank you letter.

My adviced strategy - do the interview practice before you even start getting interview invitations. Then, do the mock interview for a specific job interview, by sharing the advert with a career coach, who has background in recruiting.

Practice customizing your responses based on the interviewer’s role. A member of HR will ask different questions than your future manager. Likewise, someone from the executive leadership team will be interested in traits different from those of either HR or operations. Therefore, when scheduling mock interviews, consider scheduling interviewers who are HR generalists, Operations Managers, Executive Leadership, and peers. Then, practice adapting your answers to these interviewers by highlighting the skills that are relevant to them in their particular roles.

Also you can use the same career story and emphasize other aspect of it, highlighting the skills relevant to the question. That way you don’t need to keep in mind dozen of career stories, 5-6 are enough.

Be attentive during your interviews and take notes. In each email, highlight something the interviewer said that reinforced your enthusiasm for the role. Each interviewer will typically highlight a few competencies or skills and center your email around these skills. This will naturally vary your emails.

As you keep notes, also write down the name of person you are working with. As you have future conversations with members of the company, you can reference and quote people by name which will stand out. I.E- "I remember talking to Shelton from HR last week and he said..."

During the job search, you need to track your applications, interviews, informational interviews, and offers. Tracking will help you to have a clear picture of what you have done but also identify the next steps. You can track the date of interviews, contact names, offers, etc. Tracking is crucial. However, it is equally important to take good notes. While I recommend using Excel to track progress, I encourage people to use Word or Google Docs to store notes on interviews. You discuss a lot of details in an interview. When you take good notes, you can remember what you said but also reflect on what can be improved. Excel is good for tracking but not optimal for storing.

I tend to have a bunch of empty notebooks laying around so I have used one to keep track of mock interviews. I use one page per interview to record the time, date, name and contact information of the reviewer then I make notes from each interview. I tend to come up with questions after the fact so I note such questions so I can contact the interviewer to go over them.

If your interviews are going to be on a particular topic or functional/technical skills relevant to the job then do spend some time revising those core concepts as well. Apart from mock interviews, try taking online assessments related to skills mentioned in Job Description. If you choose the right platform, they will give you automated reports showing the progress that you have made in your preparation journey over time, along with in-depth analysis of your strengths & weak areas which you can polish off more. Being prepared on core concepts will boost your confidence & body language. Amongst other things, smart interviewers will evaluate your attitude towards work & approach to problem solving. So remember to be positive & confident!

If you're applying to so many jobs you need a system to keep track of them all...you're doing it wrong. Job searching isn't a numbers game, it's about quality not quantity. Apply for a job with resume, cover letter, project portfolio, then network with at least 3 people at that company (send your resume + ask to interview), then post content DAILY on LinkedIn about what you've learned in your career.
