I typically list down my rationale for doing so. This is basically the "why, when, who and how"? Communication is key. I personally like to carry everyone along on policy introduction so we are on the same page. This helps to address whatsoever concerns, questions and suggestions my staff may have. Also upon drafting and implementation of policy, I like to get feedback from my staff. This gives me insight into areas where the policy addresses, where it isn't and how I can provide guidance to staff on adhering to the policy.

As an HR proffessional, apart from using methods like trainings, online workshops, Expos, Policy week. month, or any handbooks to make people aware aout what exists for their benefit and organization compliances... what is equally important I feel is the right kind of talk and healthy culture of promoting policy folling approach by leaders and managers. Such org wide application cannot only be done by support functions but the actual operations team too.
Anything additional you can provide outside of a core policy is super helpful. Some examples: - If you provide medical cover, can you provide full documentation to people to help them understand what is and isnt covered? - If you have an expenses policy can you provide some training videos to them around how to do something - If you have a share/stock options scheme can you provide some example scenarios and calculations around how the scheme works. This all brings policies to life and is much more likely to help people feel as though they understand and can get use out of them

Howvere, the polices which are for complaince, Code of conduct, ethical or integral have to be made and commuicated in the serious manner and cannot be altered as per trend.

HR role is a crucial role and fully loaded rifle, handling it with utmost care is compulsory.. HR should be always in the field so that the he can interact on max with the employees and in turn employees share their thoughts and difficulties which they are facing, with the HR... When HR.remove the thoughts from the employees mind now their mind is free and now HR can impose their policies and strategy.... The above is simpler concept of give and take policy.....
