This is crucial. Sometimes information is changing rapidly. The key is to have a one to one meeting as to the institutions goals and it should come from the top. Credit risk plays a part. They need to know what a modification entails. The borrower has expected conditions and those conditions are often not met. Time is crucial as to a potential foreclosure that a modification team is trying to accomplish. The accounting principles should be addressed. Because under Dodd Frank regulatory reform, in some cases TDR Trouble Debt Restructure and under FASB there is s necessity of structure. You need the team to understand timeline You also need the Risk Management team to address delays. The worse that you can do is promise and not deliver.

I feel that the most important issue to sussceed is after the modification, isolate the account and monitor the outcome and Guage the effectiveness of the accommodation. The recipient of the accommodation needs to be identified to the collector, if they are trying to collect a late payment. The late borrower need to be inform if they fail to pay after a modification. The failure of not paying on time on modified loans in 2008 to 2010 was more than 50%. Why? Not monitoring
