How do you ensure that your program goals are in line with the core values of your organization?

From my experience organizational core values should be understood by all employee and stakeholder Core values be integrated during organizational strategic plans and strategic direction and eventually in unit and individual operating plans Program/project goals should be connected to organizational values Value reviews be conducted during annual/semi annual assessments for all levels and adjustments done accordingly.

To ensure program goals align with the organization’s core values, I begin by thoroughly understanding the organization’s mission, vision, and values. From there, I incorporate these core principles into the planning and execution of the program. During the goal-setting phase, I make sure each objective reflects the organization's broader purpose. For example, if the organization prioritizes community impact, I ensure the program directly benefits the community and involves stakeholders meaningfully. I also engage with leadership and team members regularly to review goals and receive feedback, ensuring the program remains aligned as it progresses.

This is what we did in case of Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety . This new ministry was established in 2019 and given a mandate under the rules of business of the government of Pakistan . Based on our mandate we set and aligned the goals of our Strategy ( Ehsaas strategy ) with the mandate of the division . And the whole strategy just expanded on these goals and all our 300 plus initiatives were directed towards goals and mandate of the ministry . We religiously followed it and tried to not lose our track until a new government came, and changed and stopped what we were doing earlier

Clearly defining and communicating the organization's core values to all team members is crucial. This helps them understand and strive to achieve these values effectively.

Communicate effectively with the right person at the right time through the appropriate communication channel. Aim to always be transparent and provide each stakeholder with the information they need.

The level of stakeholder engagement may vary depending on the type and context of the program; in some cases, it is essential to involve all stakeholders, while in others, it may not be necessary.

Este punto es muy importante para mantener al equipo motivado, entusiasta y empoderado; entendiendo que sus valores suman para el logro de los objetivos planteados. En el sector estatal, es importante incluir a todo el equipo, para que se pueda avanzar hacia una autogestión de cada sección y motivar la transversalidad entre departamentos `para la toma de decisiones y generación de planes de acción. Obviamente la capacitación permanente y las reuniones distendidas para análisis del mapa de proceso del organismo, suman a este emponderamiento en el camino hacia una participación activa.
