How do you engage users for your Web3 project?

Well, I've got dozens of Web3 launches in my career. And whichever best product your marketing will be pushing, without the clear positioning - it's just dust. Getting narrowed down as a sniper in our hyper-loud world - is key. Answer the questions: 1. Which use case am I bringing? 2. Will people be still comfortable once I leave the market? 3. What emotions people would like to experience facing with my brand? More important is to figure out "aha" moments. If your product isn't a "must-have" don't even try to shape the positioning.

It is important, especially for traditional brands stepping into Web3 to demonstrate their objective is to create value for the community rather than using Web3 purely as a way to generate short-term revenue. Brands need to approach the Web3 space with a genuine interest in building something long-term finding value in creating deep connections with their fans and community rather than trying to maximize revenue from selling NFTs.

The first thing is to define your 'WHY'. ?? Why are you building a web3 product ? ?? What is the value it offer users ? ?? Why it is better than the currently available WEB2 or WEB3 solutions ? Your 'why' will attract the user to you. Then Engage with them, share knowledge about the product, the technology, why it is better. This will help you form a community. Once the community has a solid understanding about your product and value proposition, it will back you up, talk about your product and that will help scale it up aswell. Start with 'Why' and then build from there.

Educating users about Web3 and your project is essential. Simplify complex concepts with user-friendly content like tutorials, videos, and infographics. Gamify learning and offer incentives to keep users engaged and motivated. This builds a more inclusive and informed community, vital for your project's success.

Never ever take users as telepaths. They don't. The best framework you can do is to break down the customer journey map into small pieces and connect educational layers to them. Remember that the gap between web2 and web3 worlds is still too big. And 99% are hardly managing even their seed phrase.

Projects shouldn't reinvent the wheel every time. It's not possible to educate users on all the technicalities around blockchain and Web3, but they shouldn't. Web apps are also not educating users about how the cloud works and whether they use AWS or Azure. Tell your users what they need to know and why should they care. Help them understand the individual use case for Web3 - be it NFTs, or tokens fueling your economy, and help them relate to things they already know and understand.

You must be looking to deliver value instead of extracting resources. You must give people a reason to join you and build alongside you. If your reasons are not compelling enough, you must rethink your strategy and why you are building a community in the first place. Regarding "being special," take a second to identify what you and your organization specialize in. What can you offer that no one else can? Once identified, offer that value upfront to give people a reason to spend time with you.

It really starts with the basics of marketing. Talk to them as often as you can, and learn what are their needs and wants. Nowadays, it is so easy to hide behind a lot of data that we're collecting from multiple platforms. Engage, talk and understand.

Customer experience becomes better when streamlining the steps and throwing away all the unnecessary clutter. You shouldn't talk about the product, what creates the outstanding experience - is the state of the customer afterward. Who they have become using your solution? How strong did you change they picture of world by giving this new experience? Web3 was invented to make UX better.

As we are moving toward 2024, there is no excuses for new web3 projects targeting web2 users (ie not crypto enthustiasts) to work on a frictionless onboarding. There are plenty of companies that provide the tools to onboard web2 users without a self custodial solution and high gas fee. The best web3 projects understand this. However, it doesn't prevent the brand to educate its users, that will be motivated to graduate to more native experience.
