4 Provide specific and actionable feedback

As a team lead, effective feedback is crucial. I believe in providing respectful feedback, especially when team members are off track. I explain the situation, offering examples whenever possible. If examples are lacking, I quickly create or sketch a sample to illustrate my point. Repetition of examples ensures clarity. I give ample time, follow up consistently, and provide clear direction. Most importantly, I explain the 'why' behind suggestions, emphasizing the benefits. This approach ensures that team members not only complete tasks but also understand the rationale, promoting continuous learning and growth.

5 Involve your team in the evaluation process

Evaluating your UED team should not be a one-way or top-down process. You should involve your team members in the evaluation process, and make them active participants and co-creators of their own development. In our team, I encouraged everyone to join in evaluating their own progress. We set a 30mins meeting every week to discuss our progress for that week. We set personal goals and shared feedback, creating a space for learning from each other. By involving everyone, we boosted teamwork and kept motivation high.

Evaluating your UED team is not a one-time or isolated event. It is an ongoing and iterative process that requires follow-up and follow-through. You should monitor and track the progress and results of your team members, and provide them with regular and consistent feedback.
