Most important aspect is to first understand the order of operation of the machine, secondly the determination of set standards of fish quality parameters like pH, F/M ratio, and oxygen balance which help to get proper engineering model. The collection of data can be in batch and a statistical data analysis like ANOVA, fishbone diagrams and Signicant variations will help in limiting errors of quality. A well structured quality document will therefore note the results and better comparison from a well presented data which is simple and understandable to the current ISO. Lastly the safety measures to be included as per the SOP, SMP and Preventive mantainance log sheets. Kaizen principles for new ideas and the 5S for record keeping.

In my experience, you don’t start kicking the can and “identify the quality issue”. If you perform some version of a root cause analysis based off a singular issue, you will likely uncover gaps in your quality control, but those gaps aren’t the starting point. For example: Problem - There is a hole in my boat. Aha moment - we must not have used the correct welding technique! Meanwhile - the boat hit a large underwater object at cruising speeds and it wasn’t documented. Don’t start with assumptions. Start with facts.

2 Report the quality issue

The next step is to report the quality issue to the appropriate authority or person, such as your supervisor, project manager, quality manager, or client. You should use a standardized format and procedure, such as a non-conformance report (NCR), a corrective action request (CAR), or a deviation request (DR), to communicate the details and status of the quality issue. You should also follow the relevant regulations, standards, or contracts, and ensure that the report is complete, accurate, and timely.

3 Resolve the quality issue

The third step is to resolve the quality issue and prevent it from recurring. You should work with your team and stakeholders to develop and implement a corrective action plan (CAP) or a preventive action plan (PAP), depending on the nature and severity of the quality issue. You should also monitor and verify the effectiveness and compliance of the action plan, using methods and tools such as audits, tests, reviews, or feedback. You should document the results and outcomes of the action plan, using records, reports, or certificates.

4 Review the quality issue

The final step is to review the quality issue and learn from it. You should conduct a root cause analysis (RCA) or a lessons learned session to identify and address the underlying causes and factors that contributed to the quality issue. You should also evaluate and improve your quality management system (QMS) or your quality control plan (QCP) to incorporate the best practices and recommendations from the RCA or the lessons learned session. You should document and share your findings and improvements, using reports, manuals, or presentations.

Non destructive testing throughout the process can help alleviate the need for corrective action in the future and may even be able to identify issues in the process beforehand.
