Know your perfect customer and make an offer they'll love, matching what they want. Use the "Triple A" method when you write: A - Attention: Write a catchy subject and first few lines. Show you know your stuff and stand out from other emails they get. A - Authority: Prove you're trustworthy, maybe by talking about your experience or how many projects you've done. A - Action: End with a clear next step they should take.

Pain points are the core of the entire story. Tapping into your audience’s emotions, especially their pain, is an art. The goal is to offer solutions to their pain without triggering negative reactions. To do this effectively, you need a thorough understanding of your audience.

Personalization plays a crucial role here. By segmenting your audience based on their specific pain points, you can deliver targeted content that feels relevant and valuable to each recipient. This personalized approach fosters a deeper connection and increases the likelihood of engagement.

A classic, proven way to write a compelling subject line is to make it benefit-oriented. In other words, how will your readers be rewarded for opening your email? Once you know the benefit, the opposite is likely one of your readers' pain points. For example, if one of your most successful email subject lines is "How to improve your productivity," then you can safely assume that being unproductive is one of your readers' pain points.

Time to reel your audience in with a subject line that's impossible to ignore. Think of it as the first impression, the first offering of what you have to give them. Make it witty, intriguing, or even a little controversial. And don't forget about the preheader – that's your chance to give them a sneak peek of the juicy content inside.

Ensure the subject line is short and snappy. One of the biggest mistakes is using too many characters in the subject, which often get cut off, especially on mobile devices.

Think efficiency, cost reduction, or customer satisfaction. Address these issues head-on in your emails, making it clear you have the answers they need. People don't care about products. They are interested in becoming the best version of themselves, and the product/service reference must be communicated with this in mind. It creates empathy, brings your audience closer to your brand, and allows you to demonstrate how your product/service can solve the gap between where they are now and where they would like to be.

I don't believe in providing a ton of value in emails. In my experience, value-heavy emails don't perform as well as story-based, entertainment-heavy emails. Far too many people get poor results with their emails because they treat them as a classroom or a lecture when they should treat them as if they're sitting down and having a cup of coffee with their readers.

This is an extremely powerful strategy that can improve your results.

You've given them all this amazing advice, but what do you want them to do with it? Don't leave them hanging! Include a clear and compelling call to action that guides them towards the next step. Whether it's signing up for a webinar, downloading a freebie, or making a purchase, make sure it's easy and irresistible. And don't be afraid to get creative with your CTA copy – instead of the boring old "click here," try something like "gimme the goods!" or "I'm ready to level up!" ??

Rather than just applying copywriting frameworks, and following advice about focussing on pain, sometimes just focussing on building genuine connection and relationships will help people open up to you so you can focus on how you can ease their pain for them.

It is often the case that we see brands around that misuse pain points, and this damages not only the economic results in the short and long term, but more importantly the reputation of the brand. Be sure to design your messaging with mobile in mind as a first priority. Everything from padding, typography, font size, colors/contrast and image sizing should be considered.
