This is actually extremely important. For example, my manager now did not come from a marketing background (neither uni/college nor in her previous jobs), but she understands the necessity of testing our internal communications collaterals. It doesn't matter if our audience aren't external consumers or prospects, our fellow colleagues and employees are themselves consumers too. Testing and improving not only ensure the functional effectiveness of our materials, it contributes to the larger goal of creating and safeguarding a healthy and constructive work environment for our peers - by showing the same high standards of professionalism and dedication as we would towards other consumers.
