How do you collaborate effectively with co-authors and supervisors?

During a collaboration, clear communication is essential to ensure that everyone involved understands the expectations, objectives and tasks assigned. For example, when working with supervisors on a research project, communicating preliminary results clearly and succinctly helps ensure that everyone is aligned with the progress of the work.

Based on my understanding, it appears that when communication is written, it is generally easy for everyone to understand what needs to be done and how the research is progressing. As a result, my co-authors and I often create a group on either Telegram or WhatsApp after an online meeting, and I then write the details in that group to keep everyone informed. This approach seems to be quite beneficial.

It would be especially obvious when your collaborators are sacked or when they pass away (I have experienced both of these on two separate occasions). In those instances, the entire project can be totally derailed or at least become harder to complete
