Operation Homefront's Military Child of the Year Awards celebrate and recognize the tremendous achievements of outstanding military children. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed a bill to honor the 46,000+ brave veterans of Michigan by creating a “woman veteran” special recognition license plate. Female veterans are often overlooked and forgotten so this is one small way for the general public to recognize them so that they can show their appreciation and give these heroic servicewomen the opportunity to share their stories and build community through their shared experiences. VETLIFE will be distributing over 400 Thanksgiving baskets to veteran families in need through the Harvest for Heroes program. Harvest for Heroes takes place each November prior to the Thanksgiving holiday.
