Brainstorming with team and all stakeholders including product team, GTM and launch team to choose the right methodology is key to coming up with the right SDLC for your software initiative. Not all initiatives need frequent iterations. Some initiatives needs more gestation and baking time. Frequent iterations and releases for some initiatives may result in churn. This was my learning leading SDLC for healthcare products.

3 Follow the principles of good design and architecture

No matter the methodology you use, there are some general principles of good design and architecture that should be followed. These include simplicity, modularity, cohesion, coupling, abstraction, reusability, and testability. Keep your design and architecture as simple as possible and avoid unnecessary complexity or over-engineering. Break it down into smaller and independent modules or components with well-defined interfaces and contracts between them.

Each module should have a single responsibility and perform its function well. Minimize the dependencies and interactions between modules or components and use loose coupling to reduce the impact of changes or failures. Hide implementation details and expose only the essential features or behaviors of your modules or components, and use abstract classes or interfaces to define common interfaces or behaviors. Design your modules in a way that they can be reused in different contexts or scenarios, and use existing libraries or frameworks to avoid reinventing the wheel. Also make sure that they can be easily tested, verified, and validated by using automated testing tools and techniques to ensure quality and reliability.
