First you need to use identify the type of market you are in and know the long term technical picture and possible risk catalysts. Don’t expect momentum from stocks that have defined resistance or support level without the proper backdrop. Momentum needs a momentum backdrop. Can’t force it. Short or long term.

Yes for long term trades and know your limit and exit. Correlation isn’t so helpful. Know a market and make sure you have a very defined risk reward you are comfortable with. Use option when you can to lock in profits.
