One of the biggest problems I see in students who start internships and apprenticeships is not having the proper expectations for those positions. This isn't always the student's fault, they are often not taught what to expect in college or university. Many students expect to do the glamorous parts of a job as an intern or apprentice. They want to be working with the company's largest client, or rebuilding the transmission on a Ferrari. And when these things don't happen, they get frustrated and feel they are being treated poorly. But these are not realistic expectations. Apprenticeships and internships are entry-level positions, so expect to do entry-level work. And if you do it well, you'll be given more responsibility.
