Using online resources as a Network Engineer is part of the day to day work. However the most important thing is having a solid foundation of knowledge on the product you are supporting. Taking any advice or using tools while not having a solid understanding of how to support the product can and will have disastrous consequences. One must understand their learning style and learn the product before trying to "fix" the product.
