To apply UDL to online courses, you must consider how to design course content, activities, and assessments in a way that offers multiple options and supports for learners. This can be done by using different formats and media to present content such as text, audio, video, images, graphics, animations, etc. with captions, transcripts, and alternative text. You should also use clear and consistent language, structure, and layout with glossaries, summaries, and scaffolds for key concepts and vocabulary. Learners should be able to adjust the speed, volume, font size, and contrast of the content. Additionally, provide different types of activities to engage learners such as discussions, quizzes, simulations, games, projects, etc. with clear instructions, feedbacks, and rubrics. Learners should have the option to work individually or collaboratively. Lastly, provide different ways for learners to demonstrate their learning such as portfolios, presentations, essays or podcasts with flexible deadlines and accommodations. Constructive and timely feedback should also be provided along with recognition.
