1 The video tag

The video tag is a self-closing element that allows you to specify the source, dimensions, and appearance of a video. You can use the src attribute to provide a URL to the video file, or you can use the source tag inside the video tag to offer multiple formats for different browsers. For example:

2 The attributes and controls

The video tag offers a range of attributes and controls to customize the behavior and appearance of the video player. For instance, the autoplay attribute can be used to start playing the video as soon as it is loaded, but this should be done with caution as it can be annoying to some users and consume bandwidth. The loop attribute enables the video to repeat indefinitely, while muted mutes the audio by default. Additionally, preload can be set to "none", "metadata", or "auto" to specify how much of the video should be loaded before playing. Volume sets the initial volume level of the video from 0 to 1, while currentTime and duration return or set the current playback position and total length of the video respectively, in seconds. 3 The fallback options

Not all browsers support the video tag or the same video formats. Therefore, it is important to provide fallback options for older or incompatible browsers. One way to do this is to use the source tag inside the video tag, as shown in the previous example. The browser will try to load the first source that matches its capabilities, and ignore the rest. You can also use the type attribute to specify the MIME type of the video file, such as "video/mp4" or "video/webm".
