How do sustainable materials influence the aesthetics of your design work?

When we began working with biomaterials there was an overall lack of desire to see the bio visibility in the material. At M4 Factory, our Design Lab has we have loved going beyond the clear or solid color in plastics that has permeated product landscape and embrace the depth and dimension material innovation has brought with biomaterials visually. CMF strategies have more options with these materials. The more we socialize them and introduce in to production, the more we see interest and acceptance rise for them.

Ignore AI as it will not 'solve the real problems' that real people /architects can - as you need to ask real architects and clients and the public users of your buildings and designs what it is all about. Cor-ten steel or pre-rusted steel is being used a lot in modern designs and signage because it cannot rust anymore and it has a fabulous roughness to its surface already.

Accoya timber is a great example of durability and uses a cleaver process of changing the chemical properties of the wood with a vinger type solution, which turns pine into a durable hardwood, so this is an excellent development and means we no longer have to use unsustainable woods from our rainforests.

In the developed world, where there is surplus and excessive choice as a result of industrialised processes and commercialised competition, there should be greater recognition of what is now a self-made problem. Superiority instincts of the West where by en large LinkeIn subscription is focused should make way for an appreciation of the frugality found in places of limited resources where built structures remain 'in place' and 'of its place'. In my experience, getting daily familiarity with our pure consciousness is facilitated by practicing transcendental meditation.

Glass presents such unrealised value in current pathways. Although all strategies should be embraced, a creative design approach provides unprecedented value if quality and design aesthetics are done with merit. We are challenging both economic value and scope of use for selective recycled bottle glass with our ReValued Glass initiative. In my opinion sustainable materials add new charecter to your design,As most of these have unique color and texture every bit of it is special hence it gives element of surprise for eg. If you take terracotta brick each of these have its own tone and that keeps evolving as the climate changes and the time passes,which gives the onlookers a sense of surprise and awe.

While using natural materials can come at a premium cost, there are plenty of other reasons why using these materials is better. Wood fiber insulation is a prime example. While it may not perform as well as a non natural insulation, because it has been through the carbon cycle, over its life time in use, its likley to have a lower embodied carbon, than its non natural alternative. Futhermore, its fully breathable and has good thermal mass properties, so its an excellent choice for internal and external wall insulation systems.

Be creative with certain types of 'waste', with unlimited imagination 'outside the box' and wherever possible in local collaboration (with head, heart, hands folk).
