Make certain that the software you select for scheduling comes with training for the staff and a way to reach a trainer if concerns come up after go live. Too often practices will over-simplify their scheduling parameters because they aren't aware of the functionality that is possible. For example, can the software have 1 appointment type that is 15 minutes for most providers but 20 minutes for another? Can the software automatically double the length for elderly patients? Many programs can! As the staff are using the software, have them keep a list of what they wish the software could do. Periodically ask the sales/client rep if those are possibilities.
